How to connect to an MTProto proxy on Telegram

An MTProto proxy link looks like tg://proxy?server=...&port=...&secret=... or a regular https://t.me/proxy?... web link. Telegram recognizes both formats natively — you never need a separate app, browser extension, or system-wide VPN setting. The proxy only affects Telegram's own traffic.

Android

1. Open Telegram and join telegram.me/foxproxy1.
2. Tap any proxy link posted in the channel.
3. Telegram shows a sheet with the server address and port — tap Connect Proxy.
4. A small shield icon appears next to your connection status once it's active. Tap it anytime to disconnect.

iPhone / iPad

1. Open Telegram and join telegram.me/foxproxy1.
2. Tap a proxy link from the channel — iOS shows the same confirmation sheet as Android.
3. Tap Enable Proxy.
4. To switch it off later, go to Settings → Data and Storage → Proxy and toggle it there.

Windows / macOS (Telegram Desktop)

1. Open the proxy link from telegram.me/foxproxy1 on the device where Telegram Desktop is installed — it intercepts tg://proxy links directly.
2. Confirm the dialog showing the server and port.
3. Check Settings → Advanced → Connection type to see the active proxy or switch between saved ones.

Adding a proxy manually

If a link doesn't open automatically (for example, you copied the details as plain text), you can enter them by hand:

1. Go to Settings → Data and Storage → Proxy (or Settings → Advanced → Connection Type on desktop).
2. Tap Add Proxy and choose MTProto.
3. Enter the server, port, and secret exactly as shown in the post — even one character off will fail to connect.
4. Save, then tap the proxy in the list to activate it.

How to tell it's actually working

Once connected, Telegram shows a small icon (a shield or bolt, depending on platform and version) near your connection status in the chat list. If chats were slow to load before connecting and load normally afterward, that's a good practical sign the proxy is active and reachable.
